Terms of Service

Last updated: August 14, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of MentorHog ("MentorHog," "we," "us," or "our") — our website and the platform that connects mentees with independent, vetted mentors for structured, paid mentorship (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your data and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

1. Who We Are

MentorHog operates a marketplace that connects mentees with mentors. We are not a party to the mentorship relationship itself — we provide the platform, matching, scheduling, payments, and video infrastructure that make it possible.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to use MentorHog. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information in your account and for keeping your login credentials confidential. You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account.

3. Mentors Are Independent, Not MentorHog Employees

Mentors are independent professionals, not employees, agents, or representatives of MentorHog. Mentors set their own rates, availability, and the substance of the mentorship they provide. MentorHog reviews and interviews mentor applicants before listing them, but a mentor's presence on the platform is not a guarantee, endorsement, or warranty of the outcome of any specific mentorship. Mentors are solely responsible for their own tax obligations arising from payments received through the platform.

4. Booking & Fees

Mentees pay mentors for sessions and action plans at the rate the mentor sets. Payments are processed by Stripe. MentorHog retains a 20% platform fee from what a mentee pays; the mentor receives the remainder, paid out weekly via Stripe Connect, subject to a brief post-session hold and a minimum payout balance. There is no fee to create an account, browse mentors, or message before booking.

5. Free Discovery Calls

Most mentorships begin with a free discovery call so both sides can confirm fit before any payment is made. Neither party is obligated to continue after a discovery call.

6. Cancellations, Rescheduling & Refunds

Specific cancellation, rescheduling, and refund terms for a booking are shown to you at the time you book, and those terms govern that booking. In general: sessions can be rescheduled or cancelled ahead of time subject to the policy shown at booking, and we aim to handle refunds fairly when a session genuinely can't happen as planned. If something about a specific booking seems wrong, contact [email protected].

7. Video Sessions & Recording

Live sessions take place through MentorHog's video platform. Recording, when used, is audio-only and requires both participants to separately opt in for that session — declining to consent never prevents you from joining. See our Privacy Policy for how recordings, transcripts, and AI-generated summaries are handled and retained.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree to follow our Community Guidelines, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference. At minimum, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive.
  • Circumvent the platform to pay a mentor outside of MentorHog for a mentorship formed here.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse another user, on or off a session.
  • Misrepresent your identity, credentials, or experience.
  • Record a session without the consent required by §7.
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service's normal operation.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our reasonable discretion.

9. Reviews, Content & Copyright

If you post a review, session note, message, or other content through the Service, you retain ownership of it, but you grant MentorHog a license to host, display, and use it as needed to operate the Service (for example, showing a mentor's public reviews on their profile). Reviews must reflect a genuine mentorship experience — we may remove reviews that are fraudulent, off-topic, or that violate applicable law.

You may only upload or post content you have the right to share. If you believe something on MentorHog infringes your copyright, see our Copyright & DMCA Policy.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is." MentorHog vets mentors through an application and interview process, but we don't guarantee the outcome, quality, or results of any mentorship, and we're not responsible for the advice, conduct, or availability of any individual mentor or mentee. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, regarding the Service.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MentorHog will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

[Placeholder — to be finalized with counsel: the specific state/country whose law governs these Terms, the venue for any dispute, and whether disputes are resolved through arbitration or in court.]

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
